Empire.
- Again this film magazine features a character from a film and is most likely trying to promote the film.
- The writing on the 'Empire' film magazines is most of the time in the same font however it may be a different colour depending on what the film is actually featuring, this magazine is a prime example. There is a photo of 'Iron Man' on the front and he is obviously very powerful and strong therefore the text on the front cover of this magazine has been altered to make is stand out and make it fit in well with the theme of 'Iron Man'. The writing has a glow effect on it which also links in with the glow light which is in the middle of his body.
- The magazine front cover has things such as ' The ultimate review of 2009' which is bound to attract a reader.
- Likemost magazines, it has the date, and cost in the top left hand corner, which is typical for any magazine whether it is film or not.
- The front cover includes a tag line for the film 'Iron Man' whih is 'new suit. new enemies. same attitude'
- After that it also says 'THREE AMAZING EXCLUSIVES' which is also put in to attract a reader as the magazine front cover is telling the reader what else is in the magazine itself.
- The colours of the film front cover are dark and powerful which again will link in with the theme of it 'Iron Man'
Poster
Codes and Conventions of these posters
- The colours-used are usually the main primary colours and black- red connotes blood and death, blue or yellow tint is a common convention of horror films so it is obviously transferred to a poster so an audience can indentify this with the film, yellow is used as its a striking juxtapostion to blue and black and creates versimilartude to low lighting such as lampsots which as well as being a common convention of most horror film also helps the audience to relate more as they can moe easily put themselves in those position ie 'closer to home the scaryer'
The text-usually serif text to connotes sharp and phalic objects such as murder weapons like the most common;knife, even going back to the most basic instinct of a predators sharp teeth.
- Central protagonist-sometimes used as central image but never clear, the image is always covered up in some way. The most common images used are single striking images or a significant scene from the film each of which is used to entise the audience further; to want to find out this significance and the plot of whats going to happen.
- The use of phalic objects is common in horror posters.
- The male gaze-is commonly used to help sell horror films by including females in the poster usually provocativley showing skin in some way.
